WELCOME TO RABBITS CLASS

In Year 2, our learning is often linked to our current project. We enjoy learning through a range of strategies including questioning, research, learning new vocabulary, working collaboratively, differentiation, consolidation, practical and written activities as well as the reinforcement of key skills and knowledge.

We use ‘Talk for Writing’ to develop our reading and writing skills and ‘White Rose Maths’ to support our fluency, reasoning and problem solving in Mathematics. To support our spelling, punctuation and grammar we reinforce our knowledge of the 44 phonemes and follow the National Year 2 Spelling curriculum.

We encourage independence and celebrate having a ‘can do’ attitude. The only way we can fail, is if we don’t try!

There are many great responsibilities that come with being a year 2 pupil at St. Giles. As the oldest children in the school, we understand the importance of being good role models and will set a good example by demonstrating positive behaviour in the classroom, communal areas and the playground.

We promote the school’s values in everything that we do and take an active role in embedding the ‘Anti-bullying’ policy across the school.
