Anti-Bullying

Miss Mutch and all the staff at St. Giles’ are proud to announce that we have received the Surrey Anti-bullying Charter Mark GOLD Award!

The Charter Mark is awarded when a school meets the criteria in the bronze, silver or gold categories; these cover issues related to whole school involvement, policy, student support, curriculum and training.

Some highlights from the report were:

  • The school has some outstanding displays promoting the values and these are prominent throughout.
  • The atmosphere in school is inviting, calm and purposeful and has a real sense of care which the values underpin.
  • When dealing with bullying, all parties are spoken to and each incident is addressed on an individual basis.
  • School offers planned opportunities across the curriculum in different subject areas e.g. IT safety in ICT, Jigsaw intervention in PSHE, drama workshops and monthly assemblies.

Our anti-bullying co-ordinator is Miss Mutch.

We host anti-bullying events throughout the year including Anti-bullying week and E-safety week which involve assemblies, drama workshops and age appropriate lessons.

Playground activities and lunchtime clubs are set up to support friendships across the school. Children have access to a range of resources in the playground which cater for different interests such as skipping ropes, obstacle course equipment and paper and pens.

Please check out our weekly newsletter for up to date information on how to support your children to build positive relationships and what to do if you think your child is being bullied.

Look out for our anti-bullying display in school.  Here you find information and examples of children’s literature on anti-bullying.  Speak to Miss Mutch if you would like to borrow any of the suggested books to read with your child.
