ST. GILES' CHURCH

The parish church of St Giles’ and St George’s has close links with the school.  A team from the church comes in most weeks to take an assembly, with some weeks using a resource called ‘Open the Book’.  This is a programme run by the Bible Society whereby Bible stories are acted out in a creative and interactive way for primary school children, followed by a time of reflection and a song.

The parish Children and Young  Families’ Leader visits school on a regular basis to help set up and maintain the reflective prayer space in our library, where the theme changes each term.  They also assist with spiritual input and formation through ‘Pause’ days, which enable children to reflect on a spiritual theme or story, as well as other RE topics.

The whole school visits St Giles’ church for special celebration services at Harvest, Christmas, Easter and the end of the school year.  These services are taken by members of the clergy or the Children and Young Families’ Leader.

St Giles’s and St George’s have a number of congregations made up of people of all ages.  They have  a variety of services and events that are particularly suitable for children and families, including Sunday groups at our 9.30am (St George’s) and 10.30am (St Giles’) and with Youth groups meeting at 6pm (St George’s).  They also hold many events across the year including an alternative to Halloween party and a holiday club in February half term.  As well as this they run one off special Family Time events on Saturdays.
